Follow Dani’s Journey to Lose 45 Pounds in 6 Months
ByDani is like so many of us. She has struggled with her weight for a number of years. Follow along as she shares her journey towards long term weight loss success through the 6 month weight loss program at the Center for Metabolic Health which includes comprehensive education through their exclusive Weight Management University. You can follow Dani’s journey on the CMH blog!
It would mean a lot to us if any one out there would like to share their ideas, questions or concerns………you can stay anonymous. We can all help to inspire each other.
Thanks Claire! I will get one of those bands – I am determined! One of my patient’s told me today that she was reading the blog! Yea!!!! Please feel free to add your thoughts, suggestions or anything else you have to add. This is a journey and it has humbled me!! I work with the surgery patients everyday and I encourage them to hang in there. Now I can’t let myself down!
Keep focused on your goals and every time you slip – pick yourself up and try again. Next time you are at CMH pick up the CMH blue wrist band that reads “Success is mine this time” and place it on your wrist. Every time you are tempted to deviate – snap it to remind yourself to stay on track. People that are successfull never quit trying. It is wonderful that you have a friend who is willing to do Dr. Clark’s “Jump Start” diet with you as it is so much easier if you have a buddy. Hang in there! You CAN do it. Success breeds success so take it one day at a time, or if necessary, one meal at a time.
Going through a very stressful time – what a challenge. I have had so much support from CMH. Today my weight is holding at 160. Need to get moving and not settle for “less than” (45 pounds). My dear friend is doing the “Jump Start Diet” we are motivating and supporting each other. Change is achieveable – one must just “change”!
It really does make a diifference if you start your day on the right track. That is why some people prefer to wake up a little earlier in order to get some exercise in before work. They find that they are less likely to deviate from their weight loss plans throughout the day if they have already invested some time and effort in themselves. They don’t want to “blow it” the rest of the day.
Starting the day off right!!! Two cups of water already, a shake to get in that protein and a positive attitude:)
Busy day at work today – Lettuce wrap burger for lunch – YUMMM
Dani….remember your successes. You are finally under 160 pounds. That is a great accomplishment! Make the tools that you need for weight loss success – FUN. For example, I use a very special pen to write in my journal and I keep my journal on the coffee table where it is easily accessible. I always treat myself to great looking sneakers so that I feel good exercising. Spoil yourself with things that you need and you will find that it will make the journey much more pleasurable.
Thanks Claire, I took your advice and listened to podcast #8. It was very helpful and made me aware that I really don’t do things for myself, even simple things. My life is so hectic at times I seem to only think of keeping “the family” going on the right path and any time left over would be for me – there never is any. I know I have to do a few things, I say the same things over and over, with repetition maybe I will actually make some changes. #1 Plan – exercise for instance and #2 Journal – take the few minutes out to do it #3 Do things for myself without GUILT! I am actually hanging in there with the weight loss, it is still a work in progress, weight today 158.5.
Dani: Remember that many people that have achieved great success in their life didn’t do it on the first try. Many times they have made several attempts before finally achieving success. And you’re right -there will always be some form of stress in our lives. You may find podcast #8 helpful as it gives you useful tips on dealing with stress. Never give up on yourself!
Had an appointment with Penny, RN on Monday. Penny is awsome, as is all of the staff at CMH. I am stuck, maintaining instead of loosing. At this time my life is extremely stressful, but there will always be something going on in our lives. Penny did not make me feel bad ( I lost 1 pound – total 17) and she encouraged me and we developed a plan. CMH is helping me not to quit, reminding me to talk positively to myself – every negative thought – I tried to squash it with a positive one!!!! Today I have had 2 Weight &Inches shakes and some almonds. Missing an afternoon snack – but trying.
Dani – short term goals are great becuase they feel manageable. Every time you catch yourself having a negative thought regarding your weight loss, deliberately stop and replace it with a positive one. This takes practice but you can get really good at it. Concentrate on all the good things you have done so far. You really have started your day well.
Dr. James Hill was interviewed for WebMD (webmd.com) and stated, “You have to make a long-term commitment. If you’re going to change your eating and exercise habits, you won’t be done after six weeks or six months or six years. You have to decide that you’re motivated to make changes that will last for the rest of your life”. Nothing we don’t already know but it is always good to have it reiterated.
Not giving up!!! Starting the day with a Weight & Inches Shake, getting back to basics. Journaling diligently, making sure to get in my water and reread at least one chapter from Weight Management University and exercise when I get home from work. This blog has just turned into my short term goal for today. Maybe I need to break it down to one day at a time. I will not be defeated by carbs – how can I let such a thing have such power over me???? I realize it is an addiction – rereading the chapters is very helpful. I hate to be dumb about this repetition is key for me. I will try to post more often today if time permits to report my progress.
